What Are The Best Glocks For Concealed Carry?

Whether you're talking about the Glock 17, Glock 19, Glock 22, Glock 23, Glock 26, Glock 43, Glock 48 and so on, you're talking about a very subjective thing. Concealed carry is just one of those subjects that gets folks fired up. Some of us think that we have it all figured out. Others of us know we don't have it figured out. I'm in the camp of those who have a firm grasp of what they know and are well aware of those things they don't fully know - as of yet. Having been a cop who carried a service pistol both on and off duty I am well versed in what it is to be a cop. Law enforcement is required to keep track of their carry gun, however, they're not told when or how to carry it. That’s a rather loaded statement but it’s true. As a cop I was required to be armed at all times. SOP mandated that I kept a loaded firearm on my person everywhere I went. How I did so was my problem. I could open carry or conceal carry but I had to have either my service pistol or my back up on me. Magazine capacity was never addressed and that is also an issue. Now as a private citizen I am able to carry far more ammo on my person on two 21 round Magpul GL9 mags for my G19 than I ever did for my Glock 21. There are benefits to being a cop, and there are benefits to being a private citizen. With all honesty I kind of wish I were right in the middle. That is to say that I really miss having my badge and police ID to help legally cover my tail. As a private citizen I have to be very careful with what I do with my pistol, and how I do it. Is there an easy answer to the question of “What Is The Best Glock for Concealed Carry?” To me the answer is whichever gun you can consistently, reasonably, and comfortably carry.

  • I don’t have just one carry gun. I have to change carry pistol to work with what I am wearing, but I always carry a pistol that is comfortable.

  • Highly recommended NOT changing ANYTHING internal…….keep it stock internally.

Talk with a lawyer regarding cases where people went to prison due to having a modified internals in their self defense gun.

  • Great video. I carry consistently but have become complacent and fail to think tactically. Until a high profile event occurs as a reminder it can happen anytime anywhere. I vassilate between a G26, S&W Shield and on occasion a G19. All in IWB Bravo Concealment torsion holsters on my 3 o’clock. Thinking tactically it makes sense to stick with the higher capacity platforms and invest in training.

  • Great information and perspective! I would also add that the best conceal carry gun is the one you can consistently make vital hits with under stress. I’m stating the obvious but felt it was worth mentioning. Executing the marksmanship fundamentals under austere conditions is crucial.
