Our New Contributing Author

If you've been a follower of Bravo then you may know who Abner Miranda is. He has been a friend of ours for a very long time. We have worked together countless times, more notably in our production of both the UCR and SNS rigs. 

We are excited to announce that he is now joining us as a contributing author to our bi-monthly newsletter. Balanced by hard work and family, Abner is passionate about guns and our Freedom to Bear Arms. He also has a long lineage in combative firearms training. He is constantly learning and passing down information through many means including his library of videos on his YouTube channel and his Facebook page. We are sure that you will enjoy his passion and experience in his articles.

Hey guys. Abner Miranda here. Today I wanted to show you a new rig from Bravo Concealment, that some you may have not seen. Everyone has seen the Shoot and Scoot rig, SNS-R from Bravo Concealment. This is designed for pistol, riffle, and one light. For anyone who has done any level of training with long guns, will tell you the one thing that almost always takes out your rifle is either a bad mag or an empty mag. So, there’s your replacement. But what some of you may not have seen is, that there is now a pistol dedicated version. The SNS-UCR was designed with a conjunction with an agency, a Northern agency that doesn’t have AR-15’s. And a friend of mine came to me and he said, “do you guy have a dedicated pistol version of the SNS-R?” So, we made this for them. These are fully loaded Glock 17 Mags, with 124 grain jacket hollow point from Black Hills. Both of them are fully loaded, I wanted to show that to you. So that you would understand, when I say locked in, I mean really, really-locked in. You are not dropping gear out of here. Also, same as before as the SNS-R, a one inch diameter light molded primarily for the Inforce line of lights; but will accept any one inch diameter light on the market. So, if you have a light that has a head on it that it’s a little bit too wide, like this Inforce 9VX, you can just drop it in bezel up, and it locks in place. And will not be dropping that light.

Big key with the SNS line of rigs was, I wanted to make sure you had really high retention, so that when you reach for a piece of gear it was still going to be there for you. The SNS-UCR comes in .06 or .08 Kydex; comes in black and coyote, can also be molded for left hand and right hand carry. You’ll notice the contour of the rig, is designed to mold up against the body once you got it on. And I’m a fairly big guy, but this molds up cleanly to my body, by stretching out. And if you’ve got a more athletic figure, then it actually molds inwards towards your body. So, this really is a one size fits all rig that is designed to give you everything that you need. And you’ll notice that I’ve actually got it on right now, underneath a loose-fitting shirt along with my RTT holster and a Glock 17. So, it gives me all the gear that I need in a concealed capacity. In fact, this is what I wear when I’m out on the streets.

One of the things that is seldom ever thought about in the training environment is: what are you going to do after the fact? Meaning what are you going to do after you drop this bad guy, he’s down, you’ve covered him, you’ve moved to cover. What are you going to do? Because you do have to search, you have to look around. If you are in a dark environment, you’ve got to be searching and the last thing you want to be doing is being the guy caught on an iPhone, searching through the crowd like this, with your pistol. That so gets you in trouble. So, one of the things that we thought about with the SNS-UCR was, yes magazine; ammo management, right. But we also wanted to think about what happens after the fight. You want to be searching. So, you want to be able to do that with a hand-held light. So, we molded the SNS-UCR to accept one inch diameter had-held lights. In this case, my favorite light the Inforce 6VT. It’s just one of those things, that you really want to think about when you’re setting yourself up for: what am I going to be carrying as my everyday carry equipment. You want simplicity, you don’t want to have to be doing an after action, and you’re doing a whole lot of this, trying to find where your equipment is. You need to be able to find your equipment, know where it is, and get the job done quickly.

So, as you can see, the SNS-UCR is a really simple piece of equipment. It was designed for smooth operation, to help you find your pieces of equipment; so that you’re never fumbling when you’re looking for something. Even though these are handmade pieces of equipment, the consistency from one piece to next is very good. And I’ve got several pieces from Bravo Concealment, so I can actually speak to that.
