Common CCW Mistakes: Understanding Footwork and Body Mechanics

Understanding your limitations in relation to the efficiency needed to clear a heavy garment while working your feet to create distance is something that requires practice. Even though I'm attending college full time now I still carve out range time because I recognize that carrying my Glock 19 doesn't mean that awesome will flow from me. I have to work with my holster setup and support gear. I have to practice and figure out where the sticking points are in my draw stroke, my foot work, my sight alignment, and trigger pull. Reaching proficiency and maintaining it takes time. While carrying IWB has been my standard for quite some time, this winter I've chosen to carry outside the waistband in my BCA OWB Kydex Gun Holster. My G19 fits into it with a solid click that lets me know that the gun is fully parked in place. The paddle extensions make for a solid carry option that is very versatile. It bears noting that the same paddles can be applied to the magazine carrier, so keep that in mind.
