Seldom do I go to a rifle class that the subject of points of contact come out. It's like the Glock versus 1911 thing or 9mm vs .45 cal. Using multiple points of contact is the whole reason why long guns are easier to shoot than hand guns are. Simply put, more of you is on the long gun than is on the hand gun. The further you get the weapon inside of your body's control the easier it's going to be to control its recoil. A handgun is designed to be shot at arm's length, however, a rifle is designed to be pushed against the shoulder. Depending on how you stand, you can get anywhere from four to six points of contact on your long gun. Have a look.
