This video was done 1 day after the El Paso Walmart shooting. I was doing a Facebook Live and was asked this question. I didn’t know too much of what had happened in El Paso other than what was being reported on Social Media, which wasn’t much at the time. My intentions were not to make a Facebook Live out of this. I just thought it would be a good idea to do a Live and talk to people. Seriously, my thoughts on this massacre were at rest and I wasn’t expecting this question. It was foolish of me to think this but I am glad that it was discussed. Be blessed.

I agree with you Rene. No matter how we train or think through every possible scenario, we never really know what we would do. All of us who are legally armed law abiding citizens have the burden of avoid, evade, escape if possible. Then there is the burden of saving the lives of others. Do we act or not? It’s a two-edged sword. Life and death decisions have to be made in milliseconds. As a former law officer and private citizen who has had “encounters”, I know how fast violence can blow up in our faces. We cannot be arm chair quarterbacks because we weren’t there. Just be prepared for the worst and pray for the best. Our prayers for the families are what’s important now. Thanks for all you do for the legally armed community.
I understand what you’re saying because I had the same question as to what would I have done. I was told by a close friend that if there is a way to get away without having to engage them do it. He gave me four things to consider before engaging the shooter. One is Intent,two is Means ,three is Opportunity and four is Preclusion. If one of these is a question, then don’t engage. Walmart has a no firearm policy in store even though most of us. are the good guys and a real thug doesn’t care one way or the other. What it boils down to is taking care of your loved ones with you. and getting them safely out of harms way. If the thug would have been pointing at you or others you may have been with,then it would have been time to get it on.
